Having spent some time in the retail industry in my earlier career I’ve always had an interest in the supermarket industry, from the marketing perspective. I’ve considered it like an ongoing case study. An industry that covers so many facets of marketing, that every business owner and marketeer can learn from it.
And of course it’s an easy industry to follow. I shop every week. I watch a bit of telly. I read papers. I browse online. I read the news. I drive around Cheltenham. So there’s not a day goes by that I don’t see something to do with the supermarket industry, whether it’s an advert, a poster, a direct mail item, whatever it is.
I’ll be writing a fuller blog on the supermarket industry in due course. So in the meantime, below is a quick snap shot of a few of the reasons why it’s a great industry to study.
